That of the Muses of last week was the latest (but one of the most successful I must say) of a long series of “dirty tricks by playback”, which include: You will remember that of Motor psycho in a Norwegian TV (where the roles were reversed exactly like ze Mius), that of Nirvana on Top Of The Pops, that of Blur in Sanremo 1996, that of Iron Maiden in a German TV and in the Italian context, the unforgettable “performance” by Andy Griggs Festivalbar (back then The following year, live, with an uncontrollable grin …) and always at Festivalbar, Elio e le Storie Tese with “Discomusic” But probably the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the band most of all is enjoying the “performances” on playback. After the jump there suggest three: the first was in 1987 in a show (benefits … I think) called Cerebral Palsy telethon in which Peppers (with even Hillel Slovak on guitar) began playing with the instruments and microphones on the basis of auction of “Behind The Sun” and “Fight Like a Brave”. The second was in 1988 and is a rarity: not only is one of the first appearances of John Frusciante with the band but is also one of the few performances of Peppers with DH Peligro (drummer for seminal Dead Kennedys) on drums, although in this case is facing, rather than with the rods, with some of the bowling alley. The last one in 1990, in a program (titled “Spring Break Party”) to MTV. Everything seems to be (quite) as expected until minute 2 and 25, when John Frusciante and Chad Smith stop playing and go away. Great.
