1 – First, basic question, can you introduce the band?
Aurélien: Eleventh Plague is a group of heavy metal Parisian born four years ago. Jerome, Nicolas and I knew from previous experience of the group and wanted to create a new training course to express our music. Jeremiah then came to singing, and knew that Igor came to complete the training. Jerome: This is the cross-influences and love of heavy-metal, this subtle blend that will give rise to Eleventh Plague.
2 – You practice a style really old school, but open on the current scene. Would you like to relive the idols of the past or to suggest indeed a new music?
Aurélien: You can actually see our music as a tribute to some cult groups, but sometimes still present as Iron Maiden. But for me it’s more a question of influences. Through the music of each is expressed all the music we’ve heard before. These “idols of the past have given us taste the metal, and it is natural that it appears in our songs. We make a new music because it just us, but we have not created a new genre. Nick: Yes. And if you look at the idols of the past do not need us to (re) live. Proof of the concert of Judas Priest + Megadeth + Testament in March in Paris héhé. The way I see it, it is limited to music true to our influences trying hard not to fall into the plagiarism of course. For my part I was a little stuck in the 90 years since I have not been able to recognize me in the new emerging styles of Metal and often more extreme. It is true that the Heavy has suffered a bit of an image glam and kitsch that might explain his fall into disuse, but I feel that style is gradually returning for some time now. Would have already made the rounds of genres extreme Brutal Death, Grindcore, Post-Emo-Core and all the other “Core”, whether feet or hunting …? As for Grand Core Sick I do not talk about it I do not know if we produce a truly new music but we still live with our time, keeping our own influences as a guideline. Jerome: We just want to do what we love, music that we like and give us as much fun to play than the audience to listen. All the news from the music market make me scream. We no longer love the music but the love of the dough. The appearance seems to be a determining factor today as I always stupidly thought it was the talent that me … so … Jeremiah: Beware, we will not remake the world either (laughs). The primary goal in my opinion, when you embark on a career is to make you happy. Especially in the heavy metal: do what you like without worrying about “do i say that? . So when you just like making money easy with three agreements (stolen from good old groups and more, we will not break the head pardi not), well you play the BBBrunes. We just want to show that France, Heavy Metal is not dead and that some irreducible are ready to defend it. And finally, it was played before us, we are happy, even if the path is more difficult and tortuous as the radio format. Of course, making music our life is a dream we have all in mind, but not to the point of making a concession to a commercial style. Finally, getting back to your question, our style of music is not innovative (it would be hard to reinvent the heavy metal) but I can simply assure you that our compounds are very personal and not a mere plagiarism of various influences. Some would say that making the new out of old, I think myself that it is a way to perpetuate a style that we like and that you do not want to see disappear.
3 – What was the impact of your first self-titled EP?
Jeremiah: I have to go out with sunglasses and all women want me rip my shirt … (laughs). Igor: I ride in my old car (laughs). Nico: Yes, we can not talk about spin financial in the case of our EP because it was not the intention. However chronicles that have been made and the returns of those who bought have been very encouraging so far and it has far more value to me at this time. Jerome: First, the first EP had intended to Eleventh Plague, which has worked rather well in the end. Aurélien: Yes, it is primarily a communication tool, which allows you to listen to what we do. Without this, it is hard to get concerts and advocacy. But on this point, we feel that things are progressing, including crossing the Big Radio, chronicles the disc in webzines, and of course the concerts. And then it is a first step: when we make music it seems natural to want to give a physical form! Jerome: In addition, a more personal, the EP has allowed us to see (or d rather hear) our evolution, but also to meet several groups that work the same way as us.

4 – The fact to record himself has many qualities, as was done to achieve what we want, what do you think?
Jerome: I would say that each has its place. Save oneself rather an idea of the final but waited to get her really expected it would be better to leave working professionals. Igor: Yes and record any request itself and the organization of free time, because each of us has a job and a life outside of music. It is true that this has helped all our sauce and I think experience was positive for the whole group. Aurélien: It’s true, and with the benefit to cost some money. This enabled us to gain experience on the record, we realize the problems that arise. For a first disc, it also enabled us to work without pressure other than ours, since the goal was primarily to have a promo and not leave the disc in stores. Jeremiah: Exactly. Initially, this EP was exclusively dedicated to canvassing and had no commercial. Only when he heard the result of mixing, more than adequate for our friend Rototo (Hadrian Frégnac) that was thought to possible sales. For the next album, however, surely we will work in different ways, including the sound that we expect this time to perform in a real recording studio.
5 – In the end, the sound is very “roots”, and we feel that the result would have been much more powerful way. Money is the number 1 issue to resolve?
Nico: Oh money! A relative concept. From a philosophical point of view the money is absolumen Does not a problem in itself, nor a purpose for that matter, contrary to what many still think (too much) of our fellow citizens. This is true for “live” but from there to say he is the No. 1 problem, I do not think so. If the sound of our first EP is not at a big production, it remains quite satisfactory taking into account the means that we have set. To be honest, outside of blank CDs and pouches, this disc did almost no cost. Igor: It’s true that more resources would have a better quality, but I recall that the EP is only a small demo that should not be sold or even made in the criticism. Nico: Yes, as Jeremiah said, we wanted to make a demo CD, history of having something to listen to canvass concert halls or the press, but the result was far from shameful we decided to offer it for sale. And then think of the last album of Guns N ‘Roses then? It still cost a whopping $ 13 million but it is not an album of exception, however. You can have lots of talent but money can not buy …
6 – personally, I find that with a big Pharaoh emphasize its acceleration by Nicolas on drums, which is the case live. Exactly, you seem pretty active on this side …
Jerome: We must make the scene. A PE alone not enough to make a reputation in the community. And above all we love to share our music. Nick: Yeah … The year 2008 has been rich in concerts it is true, which is not displeasing to us of course. This allowed us to work more deeply our game scene and gain a little more confidence to the public. Anyway music is alive and it is “live” it is more organic. It is also on stage that takes the most from our side, therefore we can invest the boards we left. Aurélien: It is always a pleasure to play on stage! After that, it depends on the periods. At the moment we are working on the album, so we just put the concerts later.
7 – Open to Gwar Sabaton or should be precious moments. What will you keep looking back?
Jerome: That the philosophy of “make yourself happy to please others” is really the backbone of the scene. It is true that Gwar Sabaton and should be proud to have been able to play with us … (laughs). Seriously, playing with such groups is a great honor but also a big pressure. This also enabled us to learn many things and progress in both observing and discussing with them. Nico: I love telling the concert with GWAR because it will remain for me an unforgettable experience. I had my place to go and see before we were chosen for their first party. Suffice it to say that I did not sleep the night after such news. Being a fan of the first time (almost since I was 5 years old when they were formed) I was a kid in a toy store at Christmas. I knew less well Sabaton before the meet but the surprise was very pleasant as humanly musically. These guys here are really friendly and accessible. Their drummer has even lent his kit to make the organization of the evening more fluid, it’s fun and it is a mark of intelligence. These concerts have been on their share of stage fright and pressure (especially in the Loco …) because there must be a maximum not to seem too ridiculous to face J We have also learned a lot about the profession in a very short time thanks to these groups and it was even more motivated to read . Less than 6 months earlier we were light years away to think that we would have the chance to participate in such concerts. I would like to acknowledge and thank the association Elianor that we have given our trust and opportunity for those dates. Igor: Gwar After I did have nightmares for three days: ugly monsters (laughs). Sabaton The guys have marked their side pro and they are cool guys who do not take big balls of Heavy Metal, as some French small groups that I could cross. Jeremiah: Yeah. It is true that contact with other groups was more than cold, but it still remains anecdotal. But I remember a concert where the top of the bill has monopolized the time to balance and play in addition to a behavior of “stars” as unpleasant as pathetic in the end. Treat first-party groups with the same condescension frieze, in my opinion, disrespect and ridicule. Groups such as Sabaton, or Thunderbolt Benighted Soul have shown more professionalism in their conduct towards us, leaving us they even play in their place as top billing on request of the organizer.
8 – The Eleventh Plague music is clearly tailored for the live and you are very communicative and enthusiastic in Concert, a thousand miles of a metal scene increasingly occult.
Jerome: We try as much as possible to play with groups of our influences but it is not easy. Singers with the voice of Jeremiah there must be a generation … but we can not blame the singer for Black … But I digress … there (laughs). Nico: Bon làca me do that but basically I hate to take me seriously. Any music is good if it is sincere but the problem of the Metal scene recently is that it may be too inward-looking styles with ever more extreme and inaccessible biscornus. A concert is a show first of all, if it were only to listen music, especially stay at home and take a CD, it costs less. A live video must also be to bring something new to the public in relation to discs and also give energy to receive more in return. As said a candidate, I withhold the name, the 2007 presidential election is “give and take, win-win ‘J However, a minimum of second-degree and self is never allows evil and surely appear more human in this world of increasingly formatted. Jeremiah: It reminds me of a live report in which it was explained that we lack serious on stage, swinging potache jokes, and I had a QuickList laugh … But that does not prevent us to be contacted about six months later by the author himself for a time which he had organized with two other groups. So it is finally important to put what is said about us. Anyway, getting back to your question, I prefer messing around and have fun on stage, even seem ridiculous to some, rather than having a pseudo star behavior and make people high. I take the example Tobias Sammet which still adorns the concerts of his jokes muddy … Some find it pathetic, it makes me me laugh and I do find that most sincere and close to the public in time.
9 – Igor solos are well interpreted and reveal an impressive technical level. Ditto on the bass. Get a point of honor to have some instrumental technique to take your songs up?
Jerome: Igor and I have learned to play pieces of very heavy techniques. It is therefore logical to us that is synonymous with heavy technique. The melody is the basis of a song. If it is well built with good grades and great gimmick, but the voice (already beautiful on its own) to a much more enjoyable. Jeremiah: Huuu is the first time that G (Jerome) makes me all the compliments in so little time … Is it already Christmas? (laughs) Nico: Of course the technique is important. We live indeed in a very demanding and a good musician must know how to adapt his game in all situations. If art is something we should not abuse it either I think. More and more musicians like to display their virtuosity, but it is not always at the service of music. If I work my game and my technique every day to become a better musician, I do not make a ton or a Mike Portnoy, Gene Hoglan, for example (although these last two are big killers …). The feeling prevails over the demonstration. Remind us that what is by far the most difficult to master in music, there is silence. Igor: Indeed … Thanks for the compliment in any case, it is always pleasant after years bucher on the guitar. Indeed, as Nico said, it is a style of music which requires a minimum of technology without falling into the demonstrative … although I am a fan of Malmsteen … well what !!!??
10 – Now to your case Jeremiah. Your singing is not unlike the beginnings of Michael Kiske. What does this icon for you?
Jeremiah: Michael Kiske is the man who made me want to take a microphone to go on stage. You know what it is, when one is young, we want to become all guitarists but soon I had to go to the obvious: I had no talent for scratching strings … Very soon I started singing in the bathroom (laughs) but it was not until age fifteen that I heard for the first time the Keeper of the seven keys. The claque … From that moment, I wanted to sing in a group of Heavy Metal. But having a voice like hers, it’s easier said than done. I have never taken singing lessons and I worked alone, doing my teeth in different groups of various styles, but never real heavy groups because I could not find in the province of musicians with an adequate technique for this kind of music (and I was anyway myself not up to my own ambitions at the time). It was not until arriving in Paris, which I achieved my dream by meeting all Igor first then the other guys what would become the wound. Brief, and to return to your question, if I sing with this voice is in a group of heavy metal, I owe to Michael Kiske who influenced me a lot.
11 – You do not hide your admiration for Tobias Sammet. What do you think of his latest effort “Tinnitus Sanctus” came out recently?
Jeremiah: Ah! Tobias … How explain this without sounding condescending or full of myself? I feel close to him, except that he is a genius who is successful and I am very small and hard that I still (laughs) … To put it simply, as he wanted me to sing in listening to the Keeper and his mentor is Michael Kiske, it does not hide with an invitation as soon as it can on its Avantasia and Edguy pieces. Regarding Tinnitus Sanctus, I have only been greatly disappointed by listening to Ministry of Saints that I had dégoter well before the release of the album, I expected the worst. I had been disappointed by the Scarecrow and the new musical direction by Tobi shocked me at least as much as his new haircut (laughs). Despite this, listen more attentively to all of Tinnitus gave me a smile and convinced me that Tobias was always this great composer. Admittedly, his style was clean and we are here far from the large and vocal demonstrations techniques which we enjoyed in Theater of Salvation, but the spirit is there, the music and interpretation are sincere and musicians seem to take their up to play. The Pride Of Creation or songs as Dragonfly and Nines Lives are real masterpieces both the interpretation of the membership … but it does than I do. I also had the opportunity to visit the Elysée Montmartre in January and I can assure you that it is always good to see them on stage. And despite what his detractors say, Tobias Sammet is always an Olympic and sings better. Bref, que du bonheur … I look forward to the DVD and who knows, may one day be first with … the dream …
12 – You will return to the studio next year. Where are you with new equipment and what should we expect?
Nick: Look for the big sound that Savate! You have been warned haha! More serious album project under consideration will, if everything goes well, 6 new tracks plus 5 tracks are already on our EP. It goes without saying that production is the main objective of this album and some tracks are already available on the EP, they receive a much higher quality. In any case the goal. Igor: Yeah, if you kiffé PE, ben on va te holes in the ball with the album, as the latest titles are much more speed. The result is, I think, a good album of Heavy Metal varié well. Aurélien: Currently, we are finalizing the last piece, which brings an element of epic compared to previous compositions. Broadly speaking, as Igor, the latest pieces are a little more comes in, whether by the tempo or the general consonance. Jeremiah: People who listen to the album, in fact I think perceive different stages in composition. After the pieces of the EP, we wanted to go to securities operating slower tempo but we are quickly returned to our first love. Our last song, Call Of Ithaca for me is the culmination of four years spent together .. But I said no more … You judge by yourself when you have the cake in their hands.
13 – To end this interview, discussing the thorny topic of labels. Did you contact them or approaches?
Nico: Not quite yet. We have not looked too much either but a friend of mine has just created his own label and we proposed a contract that we are studying carefully. While it remains relatively modest, this could be a very good starting point for us. We will study further the issue of labels when the next CD will be in the box. In the meantime we are open to any suggestions of course.
